REPORT OF ARRESTS, CONVICTIONS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 13, 2017, (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period March 09-10, 2017.

ARREST AND BAIL:

Arrested: Stephen Chiverton Herbert, was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession with intent to supply. The offences were committed in Conaree Village March 10, 2017.

Bailed: Davin Wilson of Ottley’s Village was granted bailed by Her Honour Miss Harris in the sum of $50,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, 3rd April, 2017. He was charged with Possession of Cannabis, Possession with intent to supply and Trafficking.

Bailed: Ellister Thomas of Ottley’s Village was granted bailed by Her Honour Miss Harris in the sum of $50,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, 3rd April, 2017. He was charged with Possession of Cannabis, Possession with intent to supply and Trafficking

Bailed: Leo Christian of Spooners Village was granted bailed by His Honour Renold Benjamin in the sum of $2000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, 3rd April, 2017.

Bailed: Ramon De La Rosa of Sebastian Street was granted bailed by His Honour Renold Benjamin in the sum of $30,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, 3rd April, 2017. Conditions: To report to the Basseterre Police Station twice per week. Mondays and Fridays between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm

Bailed: Jeanette Warner Neil of Hamilton Estate was granted bailed by Her Honour Miss Yasmine Clarke in the sum of $10,000.00 XCD

 

COURT CONVICTIONS:
In maters at the district ‘B’ Magistrate Court presided over by her honor Ms Donna Harris, Lashawn Matthew of Dieppe Bay who was charged with the offence of driving without a valid and unexpired license and driving without insurance in Dieppe Bay was convicted and fined
$150:00 for the offence of driving without insurance, if in default serve seven (7) days in prison. He was also banned from obtaining a drivers license for the six(6) months.
OTHER ACTIVITY:
Search Warrants Executed: Police executed a number of Search Warrants during the Period of this report. Warrants were executed on properties in Taylors Village, Prickley Pear Ave, Westbourne Ghaut, Crab Hill and Soho Housing. The warrants were executed in search of illegal firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs, and instruments that can be used in criminal activity.

Building Breaking and Larceny: Police responded to a report of a building breaking and Larcenyat J.M Plumbing located on the junction of Market Street and Central Street. The V/C reported that the business was secured on 8th March 2017 at about 9:15 p.m. On 9th March 2017 at about 7:30 a.m, discovered that the building was broken into and a number of items were missing. The items included one (1) HP Laptop and one (1) vault containing a sum of money and checks. The scene was processed Forensic Services Unit. Investigations continue.

Larceny from a Dwelling or House: Police responded to a report of a Larceny from a Dwelling or House on Lower Share Lane. The V/C reported that some unknown person(s) entered his house and stole a number of items that were stacked in an eastern bedroom. The items taken and value are not known at this time. The scene was processed and investigations continue.

Anti-Drug Efforts: A combined Police and SKNDF patrol reported they discovered, uprootoed and seized 182 marijuana plants ranging in height from seedling to five(5) ft, on Friday (March 10) in the Monkey Hill area.

House Breaking and Larceny: Police responded to a report of House Breaking and Larceny at a beach house located in Conaree Beach at Conaree Beach. The V/C states that he last secured the houses at about 1:35 p.m on Saturday 04th March 2017. He returned on Thursday 09th March 2017 at about 11:00 a.m and discovered that one the house broken into. Value is unknown at present and the V/C cannot say if anything else was missing from the house. The scene was processed the Crime Scene Unit. No suspects were named. Further investigations to be continued.

Abandoned Properties Search: Police continues to execute searches of abandoned properties; most recent searches were done in the following areas: Government Road, Bath Village and Brick Kiln Village, Nevis and Prickly Pear Alley, East Street, Lower Thibou Ave and Fig Tree St. Kitts. A number of items were seized by the police for further processing.

Citizen Safety: Police Tourist Patrol and station reports indicated that there were no incidents against visitors on a 4 ship cruise day on Thursday(March 09).
Additionally, on Thursday night, Police continued to efforts to ensure citizen safety with increased mobile patrols in our communities. Vehicle Check Points and Stop and Searches are also being conducted. Officers conducted 4 Vehicle Check Points, engaging over 65 vehicles; and 14 Stop and Searches. These operations are being done in efforts to rid our communities of illegal firearms, illegal drugs and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes.

On Friday (March 10) security forces conducted a number of operations to ensure Citizen Safety. Seven (7) were Vehicle Check Points, two in particular had 150 and 140 vehicles passed respectively. A number of persons were searched and several tickets were issued for traffic violations at all locations.

In addition to the VCP’s, officers conducted over ten (10) Stop and Searches of persons of interest and vehicles of interest during the period this report.

Traffic Accidents: There were nine (9) accidents on the federation’s roadways in St. Kitts during the period of this report. No serious injuries were reported. Drivers are urged to use caution and be alert on the roadways.

Community Engagement: Officers conducted meet and greet community walk-thru’s in the following communities. conducted a Community Walk-Through at Gillards Meadow, Gillards Meadow Housing Development, Douglas Estate, Carifesta Phase I and New Road Housing, New Road Housing Extension, Carifesta Phase II and Douglas Housing Development respectively. This engagement was done to foster better relationships between the communities we serve and the Police.
– Officers of the Frigate Bay Police Station conducted community walk-thru’s in their Policing area, engaging residents and sharing a number of safety tips geared towards reducing risk of becoming a victim of crime.
– Officers on Nevis conducted visits to village shops and local businesses to share safety tips for businesses. The engagement was well received by shop owners.
