First round in Constituency #7 Domino League ends with defending champions Parsons at the top

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 4, 2019 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — First round of play in the 24th edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition came to an end on Tuesday September 3 with defending champions Parsons Domino Club coming out on top with 45 points from eight wins.

In what promises to be a close battle, as the league enters the second round of the home and away encounters, Unstoppable Domino Club are only two points behind – in second position – at 43 from seven wins.

Parsons Domino Club, the first team from Constituency Number Six to be champions in the Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League, were in a devastating form on Tuesday evening where they travelled to Tacky Bar in Hidden Alley, Lodge Village, and thrashed home team Sylvers Domino Club 13-5.

On the other hand, at a game played at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux, Unstoppable Domino Club struggled to overcome a determined Giants Domino Club. At the end of the gruelling encounter, Unstoppable scraped through with a narrow 13-12 win.

In the other games played on Tuesday evening, Christchurch Domino Club after travelling to Cuban Bar in Lodge Project to meet the home team Unity Patriots Domino Club also struggled to come out victorious 13-10. In Saddlers Village at Shanty Bar, home team Saddlers Domino Club registered an easy win 13-4 over Guinness Domino Club. Small Corner Bar Domino Club picked up an easy six points (13-0 win) after Phillips Domino Club failed to turn up for their encounter that was slated for the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.

Point standings at the end of the first round of the 24th edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League: Parsons 45 points; Unstoppable 43 points; Small Corner 37 points; Saddlers 36 points; Guinness 31 points; Unity Patriots 31 points; Christchurch 29 points; Giants 25 points; Sylvers 23 points; Molineux 19 points; and Phillips 11 points.

According to Constituency Number Seven Domino League’s Public Relations Officer, Keithly Blanchette, an important meeting for all the domino clubs’ captains and one player per team has been scheduled for Thursday September 5 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project starting at 7:30 pm.

Schedule of play for the second round of the 24th edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League will be discussed at the meeting.

It is expected that the fate of Phillips Domino Club will also be determined at the same meeting, as to whether to schedule the team for matches in the second round of the league having stayed out of six consecutive games in the first round. They only played four games, winning two including beating the defending champions Parsons 13-6, and losing two games – one of them badly when they were beaten 13-0 by Molineux.
