Are you a seasoned and dedicated professional in the field of veterinary medicine? The
Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Marine Resources is seeking a highly qualified and
experienced individual to join our team as the Chief Veterinary Officer.


Position: Chief Veterinary Officer
Location: St. Kitts

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic vision and leadership in the development
    and implementation of veterinary policies and programs.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with national and international
    veterinary standards, regulations, and guidelines.
  3. Disease Control and Surveillance: Develop and implement effective disease
    control and surveillance programs to safeguard the health of livestock and aquatic
    animals.
  4. Emergency Response: Lead the coordination of emergency responses to disease
    outbreaks, ensuring swift and effective containment measures.
  5. Collaboration: Foster collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including
    governmental agencies, international organizations, and veterinary professionals.
  6. Capacity Building: Oversee the development and implementation of training
    programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of veterinary staff.
  7. Research and Development: Promote and support research initiatives to advance
    veterinary science and contribute to the overall improvement of animal health.
    Qualifications:
  8. A degree in Veterinary Medicine from a reputable university.
  9. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the veterinary field.
  10. Proven leadership experience in a senior management role.
  11. In-depth knowledge of national and international veterinary regulations and
    standards.
  12. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  13. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
