CARIBBEAN ICT MINISTERS ENDORSE IDEA FOR ENHANCEMENT OF SINGLE ICT SPACE; OUTLINE BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN ACCOMPLISHING GOAL
Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 28, 2018 (SKNIS): Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Ministers from across the Caribbean region endorse the idea for enhancement of a Single ICT Space, as it is important to streamline economic development to promote a common identity via travel that facilitates integration of culture.

This was echoed during a question and answer session at the 17th Caribbean Ministerial Strategic ICT Seminar, as part of ICT Week – St. Kitts and Nevis, currently being held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, where ministers spoke about the biggest challenge in accomplishing the Single ICT Space objectives by 2021.

St Kitts Nevis Foreign Minister Brantley engages Foreign Minister of Canada after Caribbean-Canada Meeting
September 27, 2018 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs): Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, Honourable Mark Brantley, engaged Her Excellency Chrystia Freeland, Foreign Minister of Canada, after participating in a meeting between foreign ministers of the Caribbean and Canada.

Both foreign ministers briefly discussed the way forward for intensifying the strong diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

During the Caribbean- Canada meeting, the CARICOM Foreign Ministers thanked the Government of Canada for its continued support in the region and discussed ways in which the countries can further deepen cooperation on climate change, renewable energy, restrictions on travel to Canada and other area

St. Kitts- Nevis Foreign Minister Brantley engages with Foreign Affairs Officials from the United Arab Emirates

September 27, 2018 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs): St. Kitts and Nevis’ Foreign Minister, Hon. Mark Brantley, engaged His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, on the substantive projects that are the outcome of the UAE-Caribbean development fund and its Technical Cooperation Framework. These projects focus on developing renewable energy resources and harnessing the benefits of solar energy in particular.

Given our consular presence in Dubai, UAE, the Minister also announced that the Cabinet of St. Kitts and Nevis has decided to expand its diplomatic representation by upgrading the St. Kitts and Nevis Consulate to an Embassy in the UAE.

On a regional front, Minister Brantley congratulated the Government of the UAE on its strong cooperation with and continued support of CARICOM.

September 27, 2018 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs): In a bilateral engagement with the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Ambassador Kenneth Merton, Foreign Minister Brantley thanked the US Government for the visa interview waiver, a policy change that has had a significant impact in St. Kitts and Nevis.
