BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 10, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The carefully executed hurricane home rehabilitation programme of the Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris-led Team Unity Government continues to receive excellent reviews from citizens and residents across the length and breadth of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The programme, which started earlier this year, has brought necessary improvements in the housing stock of persons affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September, 2017.

FIREARM DISCOVERED DURING JOINT OPERATION IN SHADWELL

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 10, 2018 (RSCNPF): The Police were able to take another illegal firearm off the streets of our communities while they were out executing several search warrants recently.

During a joint operation in Shadwell one (1) .22 pistol and several rounds of matching ammunition were found in a structure between two premises. This is the 23rd firearm to be taken into Police custody for the year.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.

POLICE CHARGE INDIVIDUAL FOR FIREARM FOUND IN SANDY POINT

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 10, 2018 (RSCNPF): The Police have been able to trace and link an individual to a firearm that was found during a search operation in Sandy Point.

Commissioner of Police Ian M. Queeley made the disclosure at a recent Press Briefing at the Police Training School. On August 18, 2018 the Officers from several units searched an empty piece of land in Sandy Point and one (1) 12-Guage Shotgun with several rounds of ammunition were found. The shotgun and ammunition were taken into Police custody and processed by Technicians at the Forensic Lab. 

Following the use of several investigative techniques and methods, Denzil Stevens alias “Ganja Man” was arrested and charged for the offences of Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

It is my great honour and privilege to once again commend the efforts of Pastor Lincoln Hazell and his devoted congregation at the Apostolic Faith Church for organizing the Annual Sanitation Workers Appreciation Day, which is now in its 16th year.

Every year without fail since 2002, you keep honouring our hard-working women and men, who handle, collect and dispose of our garbage; clean our streets, parks and beaches, and protect our environment.

On behalf of the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis, I heartily congratulate all our sanitation workers for seamlessly performing an essential service to the public by keeping our communities and country clean, safe and habitable.
