BREASTFEEDING WEEK 2018 FOCUSES ON BREASTFEEDING AS THE FOUNDATION OF LIFE

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 04, 2018 (SKNIS): Minister of State with responsibility for Health, the Honourable Wendy Phipps, while addressing the nation for Breast Feeding week 2018 said that the ministry views Breast Feeding Week as a time to remind the public that breastfeeding is a natural and a progressive building block that should immediately follow pregnancy and childbirth to improve the health and wellness of babies in the Federation.

“The Ministry of Health also views Breastfeeding Week as a time for all of us to be mindful of the fact that breastfeeding is a natural and progressive building block that should immediately follow pregnancy and childbirth so that our Nation’s children will have the best chance at living strong, resilient lives where illnesses, diseases and nutrition deficiencies are minimized during the entire life course,” she added.

Breastfeeding Week which was introduced by the World Health Organization (WHO) is being celebrated from September 3 – 7 under the 2018 theme “Breastfeeding: Foundation for Life.”

COURSE #27 RECOGNISE FORMER INSTRUCTOR DURING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 04, 2018 (RSCNPF): Members of Training Course #27 paid tribute to retired Inspector Carol Williams as part of their recent anniversary celebration activity.

Customarily, since the group passed out from the Police Training School in 1997, they have been meeting every year to commemorate the occasion. Strong bonds are built among Officers who train together, but this group also developed close ties with their instructors. As a result, Course #27 has also been inviting the persons who taught them during the training to be a part of their anniversary activities that have even included trips abroad. Unfortunately, Inspector (Retired) Carol Williams, who was one such instructor, had to end her participation due to physical limitations she developed.

CHURCH LEADERS HAIL THE SUCCESS AND IMPACT OF THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 5, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Pastors and church leaders from around St. Kitts are hailing Monday’s (September 3) observation of National Day of Prayer and Fasting as a successful and meaningful endeavour, as hundreds of individuals and several corporations visited churches throughout the island to engage in prayer sessions.

The National Day of Prayer, which was one of the activities planned to mark St. Kitts and Nevis’ 35th anniversary of Independence, sought to inspire and elevate in all of us faith, hope and love in and for God.
