Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis in Cuba Holds First Patriotic Fair
The first ‘Patriotic Fair’ held under the auspices of the Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis took place on the shelves of history on Thursday, 22 November, 2018.

The fair featured an open exhibition of strictly made in St. Kitts and Nevis items, including pieces of art and craft, textile, national wear, folklore costume, ladies’ accessories, batik, literature: books written by our local authors, magazines, brochures; health products, jams, jellies, non-wheat, plant-derived flour, dried fruits, fudges, CSR and coconut rum, wall hangings and a framed picture of historic Brimstone Hill.

In the brutal conflict in the DRC‚ a glimmer of hope for survivors

Congolese mother Mamie is receiving help at a Doctors Without Borders hospital in the DRC after she was raped next to her husband’s corpse.

“I was at home when armed men came in and killed my husband. They decapitated him and stole all our possessions‚” Congolese mother Mamie says‚ the trauma still clear as she recounts a brutal attack.

As if this wasn’t enough‚ the horrific situation‚ unimaginably‚ got worse.

“I was raped in my home‚ next to my husband’s body‚ in the presence of my children.”

Mamie – whose real identity is being protected – was recounting her story to Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Kananga‚ the capital of the Kasai Central province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo‚ in September. MSF runs an operation in the area‚ helping victims of sexual violence with medicinal and psychological care.

In Kananga‚ the levels of violence are staggering.

ST. KITTS AND NEVIS’ PRIME MINISTER WELCOMES CONTINUED PUBLIC DIALOGUE ON NATION-BUILDING

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 28, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has welcomed the call for continued open conversations with members of the general public on how nationals, at home and abroad, can contribute to the future growth and development of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The call was issued by social and political activist, Dr. Kuba Assegai, while making a contribution to last Friday’s (November 23) edition of WINNFM’s “Voices” programme. Prime Minister Harris was the special in-studio guest for that show.

POLICE OFFICERS RECEIVE TRAINING IN NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 27, 2018 (RSCNPF): National Security Adviser, Retired Major General Stewart Saunders recently wrapped up a three-day training course with Police inspectors, sergeants and corporals on threats to national, regional and international security.

The workshop was held at the conference room at Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department Headquarters from November 20-22, 2018. The activity is part of an ongoing effort to improve efficiency in the Police Force. Major General (Ret.) Saunders explained that the training was one of several that were planned.
