Customs officer and another person held in connection with gun and cocaine importation

New Castle, Nevis, June 14, 2018 – Two persons , one of whom is said to be a Customs Officer, were arrested Thursday in what police said was an intelligence-led operation,

The collaboration between the police and customs at the Vance W. Amory International Airport in Nevis led to the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, a gun and ammunition.

Both males have been held for questioning in connection with the operation.

ANOTHER ILLEGAL FIREARM REMOVED FROM THE STREETS DURING JOINT SECURITY OPERATION IN NEVIS

 Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 13, 2018 (RSCNPF): A man is in Police custody in relation to a firearm that was found Tuesday night (June 12).

Police Officers in Nevis, assisted and supported by members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, executed a search warrant on a premises in Clay Ghaut. During the search one (1) 9mm Sig Sauer pistol with a number of matching rounds of ammunition were found on a resident of said premises. The weapon and the individual were taken into Police custody. Another person who was present at the time of the search was also taken into Police custody, but was later discharged.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 13, 2018 (RSCNPF): A number of items were taken into Police custody following a search at the G-Spot Bar in Sandy Point. One (1) person was arrested and charged as a result of the subsequent execution of another search warrant following the one at the Bar.

 Exercise TRADEWINDS 2018 Phase I offered a joint learning environment aimed at improving the region’s security capacity network.  The requirement for understanding the operating environment was crucial to the exercise’s success.  While the training and practical skills in Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief, Counterdrug Operations, Law Enforcement and Maritime Domain Awareness are important, it is important that you take away the clear understanding that your roles as security professionals are intricately woven into and directly connected to improving the lives of all our citizens and residents. BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 13, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – It was another day of celebration today (Wednesday, June 13) for 15 more families as the Team Unity Government, through the Unity Housing Solution Programme, distributed 15 of the 16 newly constructed houses at Stadium View, Sandy Point to residents; effectively bringing to 31 the number of new homes delivered to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis in just two days.
