PM HARRIS EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF

MS. AGNES FARRELL, PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER OF THE REACH FOR RECOVERY BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION

 

 Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris extends his heartfelt condolences, and those of the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis, to the family and loved ones of Ms. Agnes Farrell.

Ms. Agnes Farrell, a much beloved and inspirational breast cancer survivor who founded the Reach for Recovery SKB Breast Cancer Support Group, has died.

After receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in 1998 and completing her radiation and chemotherapy in Trinidad and Tobago in July 1999, Ms. Farrell formed the first-ever organized cancer support group in the Federation when she returned home to St. Kitts.  The group officially became Reach for Recovery in February 2002.

Female immigration officer in St. Kitts detained
Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 19, 2018 – A female immigration officer has been detained following a raid on a residence in Conaree.
According to reports, a large quantity of marijuana was seized and several arrests made.
It was not immediately clear how many persons were arrested and charged and whether her detention is related to the marijuana find or issues relation to immigration matters.

Man injured in armed robbery attempt on Nevis

 

Charlestown, Nevis, April 19, 2018  – Reports of an attempted armed robbery in Nevis on Wednesday night.

According to multiple reports, one man was injured in the hand by the lone gunman during the robbery attempt at Stanley’s Gas Station.

Dunn died as a result of asphyxia due to drowning
Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 19, 2018 – The British-born cruiseship passenger who experienced breathing difficulty while snorkelling died as a result of asphyxia due to drowning.
Police said Wednesday an autopsy was performed on the body 66-year-old Michael Henry Dunn of England by resident pathologist, Dr. Adrien Nunez on April 16.
Police investigations revealed that Michael Henry Dunn was visiting the federation with his family on Thursday, April 12. They went on a snorkelling excursion at Shitten Bay at about 10:30 a.m.
“After a few minutes in the water, witnesses say he appeared to be gasping for air. He was taken from the water and placed back on the vessel and administered CPR by the crew members. The vessel returned to the Marina at Port Zante and the Emergency Medical Service arrived to assist; however, Dunn was not breathing and was later pronounced dead by the District Medical Doctor,” the police statement said.
