St.Kitts and Nevis (WINN);The St. Kitts Music Festival has a new chairman: local businessman Damion Hobson. WINN FM confirmed that Hobson took the reins from long time Festival Chairman Faron Lawrence.
Sources indicate the decision was made about three weeks ago but was only made official at meeting of the Executive last week.
The new Chairman will face several challenges heading up the committee for one of the major tourism events for the federation, including financial woes.
WINN FM understands that close to one million dollars is still owed to suppliers and service providers coming out of the 2017 hosting of the music festival.
Over its 21-year- history, the audited financial accounts for the festival have never been made available for public, despite promises to that effect by past and present officials.
WINN FM sought to put questions relating to the Music Festival’s financial operations to Tourism Minister Lindsay Grant, however the Minister was unavailable as he was preparing to travel to the US to attend an official event for the cruise sector.
