BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 28, 2021 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) –Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris told the nation that his Government has borne a significantly high cost to contain the spread of COVID-19 in St. Kitts and Nevis and prevent the Federation’s health system from being overwhelmed as a result of the virus.

Source: Reuters – Pfizer Inc (PFE.N) said on Monday it has started a large study testing its investigational oral antiviral drug for the prevention of COVID-19 infection among those who have been exposed to the virus.

The drugmaker and its rivals, including U.S.-based Merck & Co Inc (MRK.N) and Swiss pharmaceutical Roche Holding AG (ROG.S), have been racing to develop an easy-to-administer antiviral pill for COVID-19.

Trade unionists on the island who are mounting legal challenges to the government’s vaccine mandate for public sector workers are likely to be successful in the court.

That’s the view of Dr George Braithwaite, a lecturer in Sociology, Social Work and Psychology at the UWI Cave Hill Campus.
