This decision comes after careful consideration by the Ministry’s leadership and was announced by the Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Dr. Terrance Drew earlier today at an extraordinary meeting of the ministry’s leadership team. Mr. Martin’s appointment as acting permanent secretary will ensure the continuous and effective operation of the Ministry’s initiatives and responsibilities.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, April 24, 2024 (SKNIS) – As the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season looms, Prime Minister and Minister of Health, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, said he is pleased that the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) and other partners carried out an important simulation exercise on Tuesday (April 23, 2024) evening to test the emergency preparedness of the Federation’s main health institution — the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, [Ministry of Health] – It has been brought to the attention of the Ministry of Health that an online publication falsely published a story captioned ‘Wrong Body Buried’. The article falsely alleges that an incident occurred as the result of a “mix-up” at JNF General Hospital. The Ministry of Health condemns in the strongest possible terms this falsehood. Consequently, the matter has been forwarded to the chamber of the Attorney General for the consideration of legal action against the publication.
