CARPHA Advises “Be Proactive, Reduce Your Risk of Catching the Flu”
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. 25 January 2019. The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is urging persons to practice good personal hygiene in order to reduce the risk of transmission of influenza and other respiratory viruses.

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused mainly by two types of viruses: Influenza A and Influenza B. The Influenza A (H1N1) virus caused a pandemic in 2009. Although often referred to as “swine flu”, this name is misleading, as it is not spread by contact with pigs or pig products.

NATIONAL MEDICAL RECORD SYSTEM IMPORTANT FOR EFFICIENT TRANSITION INTO UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE COVERAGE
Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 23, 2019 (SKNIS):  Chairperson of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Commission for Universal Health Care, Azilla Clarke, said that a National Medical Record System will be implemented as a part of the roll out of the Universal Health Care Coverage to ensure the smooth transfer of information between medical practitioners in the Federation.

Speaking on “Working for You” on January 23, 2019, Ms. Clarke said that this system will be a database of baseline medical information for each citizen or resident.
