AGRICULTURAL WEATHER STATIONS AIM TO REDUCE DISASTER DAMAGE FOR FARMERS IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS 
Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 30, 2018 (SKNIS): As the Ministry of Agriculture strives to ensure food security, Agricultural Weather Stations were launched at Needsmust, on November 30, to help forecast the ever-changing weather conditions for the benefit of farmers.

This project aims to help agricultural agencies link agricultural activity with meteorological data, providing farmers with early warnings of weather variations. As a result, farmers will also be able to immediately receive technical recommendations to adjust their cultivation models and reduce disaster damage.

TWICE PER WEEK GARBAGE COLLECTION TO BE COMMISSIONED IN JANUARY 2019
Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 30, 2018 (SKNIS): A new system of garbage collection will be commissioned by January 2019 in St. Kitts. This New Collection Model is expected to address several issues related to the current system of garbage collection.

In the current system, garbage is collected within eleven zones in St. Kitts. This, said General Manager of the Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC), Keithley Phillip, is not efficient as it is a wide range for the collectors to cover. The new system will divide the zones into 27 smaller areas to more efficiently collect garbage. The general manager invites all independent garbage collectors to come on board with the new initiative, as more trucks will be needed.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 30, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris spent part of his day on Thursday, November 29, 2018 – 25 years to the day when he was first elected as the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #7 – reaching out to the elderly and vulnerable persons within his constituency.

Among the places Prime Minister Harris visited was the Mary Charles Hospital in Molineux, where he greeted patients and medical staff on duty.

THREE NEW HEMODIALYSIS MACHINES DONATED TO JNF GENERAL HOSPITAL BY THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA (TAIWAN) 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 27, 2018 (SKNIS): The St. Kitts Joseph N. France General Hospital now has the capacity to treat more patients suffering from renal failure with the addition of three brand new hemodialysis machines donated by the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

At a brief Handing-Over Ceremony held on Tuesday, November 27, Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Tom Lee commended the Ministry of Health for its support in facilitating the project to procure the three new machines.
