SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT CORPORATION LAUNCHES EIGHT WEEK NATIONAL CLEAN-UP CAMPAIGN

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 20, 2018 (SKNIS): While wishing residents and citizens a Happy 35th Anniversary of Independence, Minister of Health, the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, took the occasion to inform the public of the launch of the National Clean-Up Campaign organized by the Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC) to be launched on September 21.

“As we celebrate the achievements of our nation’s independence, I am reminded of the opening words of our National Anthem, which simply state, “O Land of Beauty”. Any visitor and certainly any resident of this country would have no doubt, that our two islands of paradise are indeed blessed with the finest qualities of natural beauty,” he said, while noting that residents need to take pride in keeping the country clean.

People’s Action Movement (PAM) on its Annual Charity Walk completed today Saturday, 15th September. As the Federation celebrates its historic 35 years of Independence, let us all be champions for a worthy cause. They left the Stapleton Police Station at 6:00am and walk through the streets of Basseterre to Old, Road. Free refreshments was provided at specific stops and at the end. Remember, Your health is Your wealth.

ST. KITTS AND NEVIS TO GET ACTIVE FOR CARIBBEAN WELLNESS WEEK 2018

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 06, 2018 (SKNIS): St. Kitts and Nevis will join with the rest of the Caribbean region in celebrating Caribbean Wellness Day 2018, which falls on September 08.

A week of activities is planned in the twin-island Federation to commemorate this year’s event being held under the theme: “Maintaining a Healthy Workforce through Movement and Diet.” “SKN: a Nation on the Move” has been chosen by the local committee to convey the message of increased physical activity during Caribbean Wellness Week, which runs from September 07 to 14, 2018, and is influenced by an expanded global initiative.
