PM Harris: 12-hour nursing shift at JNF is on pilot basis; was unanimous decision

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, August 1, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, has said that the government cares about nurses and all other healthcare workers. He has advised that the current 12-hour nursing shift on the Surgical Ward and Intensive Care Unit at the Joseph N. France General Hospital was implemented to address some staffing issues and was unanimously agreed by people working in those wards.

It is indeed gratifying to be back here at Mary Charles Hospital 23 months to the day since my Government officially unveiled a brand-new hospital for all the people in the Keys to Saddlers Medical District.

In the 23 months since the reopening of this brand new Hospital, my Team Unity Government has shown that it is serious about delivering primary healthcare services.

In these 23 months since we last held a ceremony here at Mary Charles Hospital, we have opened more doors to accessible, community-based and comprehensive healthcare.

PM’s Health Walk in Constituency Three was an opener says PLP’s Deputy National Political Leader

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, July 23, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — In April 2007 the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Number Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, started monthly walk-throughs in the various communities as constituents wanted to see more of their representative while he needed to personally know everyone in the constituency.

The well-loved Dr Harris Constituency Number Seven Health Walk that took participants from the Belle Vue bus stop to Ottley’s hard courts each month evolved from these community walk-throughs. Last year, with the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) powering the event, the health walk was renamed the Prime Minister’s Monthly Health Walk and took a national outlook as it started being held in other constituencies as well.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 19, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Medical Chief of Staff at the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital, Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, has sought to clear the air as it relates to the policy surrounding medical treatment for asthmatic patients at the hospital’s emergency room.

Dr. Wilkinson, responding to claims circulating on social media of an asthmatic patient being refused treatment for financial reasons, reiterated that all asthmatics are seen and given medical attention immediately on arrival.
