CARICOM Fights Against Gun Crime

Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis – June 28, 2018

For the period July 2^nd – 6^th 2018, the CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS), with funding under the 10^th European Development Fund Project (EDF) and conducted by Arquebus – a UK based company specialising in ballistics intelligence, will deliver Double Casting training to local law enforcement ballistics specialists. Following successful completion, equipment will be donated to the St. Kitts and Nevis Police Department to strengthen the State’s capacity to scientifically investigate and prosecute gun crimes.

ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF POLICE MERCLYN HUGHES BREAKS ANOTHER GLASS CEILING WITH PROMOTION TO IMMIGRATION CHIEF

 Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Merclyn Hughes – the first female to be appointed to the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) – was announced today as St. Kitts and Nevis’ new Chief of Immigration, which will now be a separate entity from the Police Force, effective Monday, July 2^nd, 2018.

ARRESTS AND BAIL:

Arrested: Latisha Webbe of Crab Hill, Sandy Point was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Larceny. She was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 for her appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on August 13, 2018.
