DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER SHAWN RICHARDS SAYS THE INCIDENT WOULD NOT PREVENT HIM OR HIS FAMILY FROM GOING ABOUT THEIR NORMAL ROUTINE

 

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, Wednesday March 15, 2017 – No one has yet been charged – and no possible motive revealed by police – after gunmen carried out an attack at the home of Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards last Friday morning.

While media reports indicated that police had picked up several people for questioning, they were released and investigations into the incident are still continuing.

According to police, they received a report around 3:15 a.m. of gunfire at Richards’ Sandy Point residence. While the deputy PM and family escaped injury when the house was shot at, the house and his vehicle were damaged.

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 16TH, 2017 (PRESS SEC) — The annual Regional Security System (RSS) Council of Ministers’ Meeting will take place at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort tomorrow, Friday, March 17th, 2017 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.

The meeting comes months after the successful deployment of the Regional Security System in St. Kitts and Nevis, to assist with enhancing the safety and security of the country, and also at a time when the RSS is seeing significant progress region-wide on a number of fronts.

Shooting incident in St. Maarten

 

Two men shot on Arch road

Detectives are presently investigating a shooting of two men at a “truck wash” located on the Arch road in Sucker Garden. The Emergency Dispatch received the first call at approximately 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday March 14th informing them that two unknown masked gunmen entered the building on the premises where the truck wash is located. Two men who were in the building at the time were shot by these two gun men. Immediately several police patrols and paramedics were sent to the scene to investigate what had taken place.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – APPROXIMATELY eight months after human remains were discovered in the Newton Ground mountain area (Fahie’s mountain), the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has been able to identify the missing body.

On July 29, 2016, a Police-issued press release indicated that a lifeless body was discovered in the Fahie’s Mountain area.
