 With high crime level in St. Kitts and Nevis, US Consul General to promote safety and security

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, June 7th 2017 – The high level of criminal activity in St. Kitts and Nevis has prompted the United States Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados to promote increased awareness among its citizens living and studying in the twin-island Federation.

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) has organised a special Town Hall meeting to discuss safety and security in St. Kitts and Nevis.

RUSVM in a notice has invited its students, colleagues, spouses and family members, along with U.S. citizens residing in St. Kitts and Nevis to attend the event scheduled for June 14th at 4:15 p.m.

“The event will include a security summary and tips to promote increased awareness. An overview of U.S. Embassy services will be shared through a keynote address with the U.S. Consul General,” said the notice.

Burrell … died overseas this afternoon after a long struggle with illness.

Jamaica’s football has suffered a major blow with the passing of Captain Horace Burrell, the president of the Jamaica Football Federation.

Burrell died overseas this afternoon after a long struggle with illness.

Burrell was 67 years-old.

Known as a strong leader, Burrell a captain in the Jamaica Defence Force rose to prominence with the military team before being elected to the JFF presidency in 1994.

Another murder rocks St. Kitts and Nevis

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 6TH 2017 – Another young man is dead following the three Whitsun weekend murders.

Twenty-one year old Jahma Francis of St. Paul’s was one of three persons shot Tuesday afternoon (June 6th 2017) in St. Paul’s police have confirmed he died later at the J. N. France General Hospital.

ANOTHER ILLEGAL FIREARM DISCOVERED AND SEIZED IN ST. KITTS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 04, 2017 (RSCNPF): An early morning citizen safety patrol and search by officers of the Special Services Unit (SSU) and members of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force in St. Pauls has resulted in the seizure of an illegal firearm and matching ammunition.

While patrolling and conducting searches around 6.00 am on Sunday (June 04), the patrol discovered and seized of one Cobray M-11 pistol with a magazine containing fifteen (15) rounds of ammunition hidden on a property.

KITTS, JUNE 2ND, 2017 (PRESS SEC) – Safeguarding the public’s respect and confidence in St. Kitts and Nevis’ security forces is a priority of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris’ administration, which has established robust policies and procedures to protect the integrity of law enforcement agencies and officers.

“When the public has confidence in the integrity of our security forces, this leads to better information-sharing by them with regard to criminal activity,” Prime Minister Harris said during his press conference on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 while discussing stricter recruitment vetting in the Ministry of National Security.
