PM HARRIS SHARES PROGRESSIVE VISION FOR CARIBBEAN REGION’S ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION

PORT OF SPAIN – With his bold vision and insightful recommendations for achieving economic transformation in the Caribbean region, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has excited delegates who attended the recently concluded 49th Annual Meeting of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

Dr. Harris addressed the conference on pressing issues, such as the critical importance of attaining food sovereignty, tackling the perennial issue of poverty, mitigating the effects of natural disasters and reducing crime.  In his stirring address, Dr. Harris encouraged the CDB to assist further in heading off threats confronting the Caribbean, such as crime, which he said is “one of the challenges of the region.”
The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis also advocated for the collaborative development of a digital economy.

MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR ILLEGAL FIREARM

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 06, 2019 (RSCNPF): A man is in Police custody in relation to a firearm that was found in the village area on June 04.MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR ILLEGAL FIREARM

Officers from a joint mobile patrol team in the area observed an individual on a motorbike with what appeared to be a firearm. The individual tried to escape, was pursued by members of the security forces and apprehended shortly after. A search of the area resulted in the discovery of a Glock Pistol with thirteen (13) rounds of ammunition.

The Eight Meeting of the CARICOM-US Trade and Investment Council (TIC) is currently underway in Miami and concludes on Friday 7th June , 2019.

According to Permanent Secretary of International Trade, Industry Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Three Day Engagement allows for CARICOM Member States to continue dialogue with the United States particularly on pertinent trade issues of tremendous importance to Caricom Member States .
