It is my great honour and privilege to be here with you today as Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) expands its research footprint in St. Kitts and Nevis.

I am confident that the official opening of this USD $10.5 million-dollar Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) Research and Pathology building will further enhance Ross University’s academic reputation, as well as its already high standards.

Significantly, the new building represents the next phase of RUSVM’s important research into the study, diagnosis and control of veterinary diseases.

Development Bank Fun and Sports Day: Jaguars maul opposition

Basseterre, St. KittsJuly 11, 2018 (DBSKN) — Staff members of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN), their family and friends, spent the day Saturday July 7 engaging themselves in sporting and fun activities on the Frigate Bay Pasture in Basseterre as part of the financial institution’s post-37th anniversary activities.

Staff members were equally divided into four groups, namely the Panthers, Jaguars, Lions and Tigers and individual participants earned points for their teams. At the end of a highly competitive day, Jaguars were declared the champions after having amassed a total of 79 points. They were followed by Panthers with 58 points, Tigers 52, and Lions 46 points   Family and friends, while they too participated, did not earn points.

WOODS CONVICTED ON COCAINE CHARGES

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 11, 2018 (RSCNPF): Berlin Woods of Jessups, Nevis was found guilty of Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply on Tuesday, July 10.

He was sentenced to two (2) years imprisonment and fined $7,500 to be paid in six (6) months. If he fails to pay the fine, he will spend an additional twelve (12) months in prison which will run consecutively. Further, a sum of $1,045.85 was confiscated by the court.

 Woods was searched during a joint security operation between Officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Soldiers from the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force on April 30, 2018. As a result of the search, ten (10) pieces of a hard white substance wrapped in foil – later confirmed as cocaine – was found.
