Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 20, 2017 (SKNIS): One hundred and sixty-two officers, who have given more than 15 years of dedicated service to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Service (SKNFRS) and Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP), were honoured on Wednesday (July 19) at Government House.

PLANS TO MOVE BASSETERRE WELLS FURTHER UPSTREAM IN DISCUSSION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 21, 2017 (SKNIS): During a press conference held on July 20 at Government Headquarters, Minister with responsibility for Public Infrastructure, Honourable Ian Liburd, stated that Basseterre High School (BHS), will be located downstream the Basseterre Aquifer. However, plans are being discussed to move the wells further upstream.

Minister Liburd explained that the Basseterre watershed spans over 5000 acres of land, which starts from the Ottley’s mountains in the west to the Canada hills in the northeast to the Conaree hills in the east.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 21, 2017 (SKNIS): During a brief ceremony held on July 21 at the Razo Construction Head Office, The Razo Construction Company donated two HP Laptop computers and 25 chairs to Her Majesty’s Prison in an effort to further facilitate the government’s rehabilitation initiative.

The Honourable Shawn Richards, Deputy Prime Minister, accepted the donations, noting that they will prove beneficial to the inmates.

NRP leader slams CCM government over Nevis power outages

CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS, JULY 23rd 2017 – The escalating duration and frequency of power outages in Nevis has evolved from being in the nuisance category to one of full blown anger and disillusionment at a time when the economy is in decline and millions of dollars have been lost in productivity.

“Without warning, simple routine domestic activities like cooking, ironing and washing cannot be taken for granted anymore. In addition, there is now a greater probability of water not running than normal. This is particularly disheartening as we endure these hot summer months when the mercury is pushed well beyond the comfort level. Our family, friends and visitors have no fans and no air conditioners to ease the discomfort,” said Nevis’ Leader of the Opposition and former premier, Hon. Joseph Parry.

Labour Party expresses sympathy on death of Telca Francis

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 23RD 2017 – With the recent passing of local businesswoman, Mrs. Sybil Telca Francis, St. Kitts and Nevis, her family and friends, have lost not only an individual who have contributed immensely to the development of the twin island Federation, but also a tower of strength and a light of the community.

In a statement on her death, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party expressed “sincerest and most profound condolences to the dearest husband Ben, her faithful and supportive son Reggie, grandson, Khalid, family, friends, sisters and brothers in the faith and the entire St. Kitts-Nevis community.”
