United Nations, New York, September 27, 2026 (SKNIS): Acting Prime Minister the Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley has called for developing countries, particularly Small Island Developing States (SIDS), to have a meaningful role in shaping the rapidly evolving global artificial intelligence landscape.

Addressing world leaders during the General Debate of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) on Friday, Dr. Hanley warned that technological advancement must not create another global divide that leaves developing nations behind.

SAINT KITTS AND NEVIS CALLS FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE AND FAIRER FINANCING FOR SMALL ISLAND STATES

United Nations, New York, September 27, 2026 (SKNIS): Saint Kitts and Nevis has issued a strong call for the international community to translate climate commitments into meaningful action and reform the global financing system to better account for the vulnerabilities confronting Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Delivering the Federation’s national address during the General Debate of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), Acting Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, said SIDS continue to bear a disproportionate burden from a climate crisis they did little to create.

YOUNG CADET BREAKS THROUGH TO CLAIM TOP HONOURS AT INDEPENDENCE 43 DRILL COMPETITION

Basseterre, Saint Kitts, September 26, 2026 (SKNIS): The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) once again dominated at the Independence 43 Drill Competition. But the precision of Snaika Desamour of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps impressed the judges, earning her the top individual award and also the Best Female in Drills title.

The standard of the competition held on the Bay Road on Friday (September 25, 2026) was extremely high as participants from the aforementioned RSCNPF and Cadet Corps were joined by representatives from the St. Christoper Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) and the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Service (SKNFRS) in a showcase of military drills.

Addressing the General Debate at United Nations Headquarters in New York, Dr. Hanley pointed to major advances in water security, renewable energy, food security, healthcare and sustainable development as evidence that the Federation is building greater resilience while improving the lives of its citizens.
