ECDU HOSTS CRICKET FESTIVAL AHEAD OF CHILD MONTH LAUNCH
Basseterre, St. Kitts, Wednesday, May 27, 2026: The Early Childhood Development Unit
(ECDU) hosted a Cricket Festival on Wednesday, May 27, as part of its pre-Child Month
activities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and active living among children.
The festival brought together students, teachers, and supporters for a fun-filled day of cricket
activities, teamwork, and recreation. The festival served as an exciting lead-up to the official
launch of Child Month, which will take place on May 31.

NIGERIA ENTRY DENIAL AMID EBOLA CONCERNS
.Basseterre, Saint Kitts, May 26, 2026 (Ministry of National Security): The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis wishes to address the recent decision to deny entry to seventeen nationals of Nigeria who arrived on regional airline flights.
This decision was not taken lightly. It was made on the advice of the competent health authorities, in keeping with our national responsibility to protect public health during a period of heightened global concern regarding Ebola.

GOVERNMENT ADVANCES STRATEGIC RESPONSE TO WATER SCARCITY IN ST. PETER’S
Basseterre, Saint Kitts, May 26, 2026 (SKNIS): The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis continues to take proactive and strategic action to address ongoing water scarcity challenges affecting communities across the island, particularly residents in St. Peter’s and surrounding areas, as the Federation experiences an unusually severe dry season.
Water Engineer, Cromwell Williams, speaking during a site visit with Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, earlier today, May 26, stated that a new water line has now been installed to strengthen the island’s water distribution network and improve the supply of water to St. Peter’s.

SAINT KITTS AND NEVIS UNDER DROUGHT WARNING AMID BELOW-NORMAL RAINFALL FORECAST
Basseterre, Saint Kitts, May 26, 2026 (SKNIS): Senior Meteorological Officer Elmo Burke, is urging residents, businesses, and water-dependent sectors across Saint Kitts and Nevis to begin implementing water conservation measures as the Federation faces the likelihood of below-normal rainfall over the coming months.
According to Mr. Burke, rainfall totals across Saint Kitts and Nevis have already fallen below the climatological average in recent months, and current forecasts indicate that the upcoming wet season is also expected to bring less rainfall than usual. As a result, a drought warning has been issued for the Federation.
