BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 27, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – As the five-day observation of ICT Week – St. Kitts and Nevis continues with activities at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education, the Honourable Shawn Richards, has indicated that the Team Unity-led administration has taken considerable steps towards adopting a 21st Century Government approach, including the employment of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs).

CARICOM HEADS RECOMMIT THEIR EFFORTS TO COMBAT NCDs WITH THE LAUNCH OF ‘CARIBBEAN MOVES’ CAMPAIGN
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 27, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Leaders within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) attending the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York met for close to an hour this morning (Thursday, September 27) at a High-Level Breakfast Meeting to assess the progress made in combating Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the region, and to recommit their support for innovative approaches for addressing the NCDs problem.

MUSICIANS REFLECT ON EXPERIENCES IN TAIWAN; THANK GOVERNMENT FOR OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN CULTURAL EXCHANGE

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 27, 2018 (SKNIS): The Governments of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan), came in for high praise when members of the Cayon Pantastic Steel Orchestra, lifted their voices in thanks and appreciation for the opportunity given to the 17-member team that journeyed to Taiwan to engage in a cultural exchange.

“Our trip to Taiwan was very much appreciated. It allowed us to experience something that I never thought I would in my lifetime. It really made me think about school choices and the future on a whole. I think that we should try to learn the Taiwanese (their language) and their songs as well so as to broaden our culture. By doing that, we will have different cultures added to our already cultural melting pot,” said Sarai Hutchinson. “I would like to thank Ambassador Jasmine Huggins for this opportunity, as well as the governments of both countries.”

New PAHO plan aims to reduce a shortage of nearly 800,000 health workers in the Region of the Americas

The Region’s health ministers agree to guidelines for the development of policies and plans for human resources, better worker distribution and retention, and training for family and community healthspecialists.
