Last year I wrote and released a Calypso entitled “Politics Destroying We” to bring focus on the severe political tribalism in our federation and called for us to bridge the political divide.

To do so it would mean changing many thing including, working with each other in the interest of the federation despite our political persuasions. To also stop the hating on persons for opposing views and support. If we work on bridging the divide, we will bring an end to the bitterness harnessed by politics and an end to political victimization towards opposition supporters.

I’ve also said repeatedly that every individual has a right to chose their political affiliation and free to change their minds and support another if they so desire. That’s why I can’t join in the criticism of former Labour Candidate for No. 7 Dr. Vance Gilbert for chairing the Prime Minister’s Lecture Series last night.

While his decision took many by surprise, it’s understandable that national events should not be partisan events like they have been. It’s time for us to stop the hate and unite for the good of all and our beloved county.
