PM HARRIS TO ADDRESS ISSUES OF NATIONAL INTEREST ON SEPTEMBER 10 (TONIGHT’S) EDITION OF STRAIGHT TALK

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 10, 2018 (SKNIS) – The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, will make a special guest appearance on tonight’s edition (Monday, September 10) of “Straight Talk” hosted by the Honourable Ian Patches Liburd.

Prime Minister Harris and Minister Liburd will engage listeners of the popular radio programme on WINNFM 98.9 for two hours of open and interactive discussions on several topics of national interest. Straight Talk airs from 8 – 10 p.m.

GOLDEN YEARS CLUB TO BE REVIVED

‘Golden Years Club’ to be Revived

Seniors in St. Kitts will soon benefit from the re-introduction of the ‘Golden Years Club’.

The Club was established in St. Paul’s in 2004, as a recreational group and training programme for older persons.  Funded by the Canadian Caribbean Initiative, the Golden Years Club provided seniors with the opportunity to socialize and partake in exercise classes and stimulating activities, such as arts and craft, healthy meal preparation, and basic computer classes.  According to Ms. Laverne Richard, Social Assistance officer and focal point for the Club, members who were trained in different aspects of the Club, were then expected to graduate and take ownership of the group, managing it with their own leaders, schedule and activities.

HURRICANE RELIEF PROGRAMME AIDS MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND CROSS-COUNTRY
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 10, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The carefully executed hurricane home rehabilitation programme of the Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris-led Team Unity Government continues to receive excellent reviews from citizens and residents across the length and breadth of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The programme, which started earlier this year, has brought necessary improvements in the housing stock of persons affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September, 2017.

FIREARM DISCOVERED DURING JOINT OPERATION IN SHADWELL

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 10, 2018 (RSCNPF): The Police were able to take another illegal firearm off the streets of our communities while they were out executing several search warrants recently.

During a joint operation in Shadwell one (1) .22 pistol and several rounds of matching ammunition were found in a structure between two premises. This is the 23rd firearm to be taken into Police custody for the year.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
