BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 28, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Team Unity Government broke ground today, Thursday, June 28, for the construction of a new multimillion housing complex at Wellington Road in East Basseterre – just two weeks after the Government distributed more than 40 homes to families in Half Way Tree, Sandy Point and Saddlers Village.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 27, 2018 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of arrests, convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period June 23-27, 2018.

ARRESTS AND BAIL:

Arrested: Latisha Webbe of Crab Hill, Sandy Point was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Larceny. She was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 for her appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on August 13, 2018.

POLICE SUCCESSFULLY BRING FIRST “JAYWALKING” MATTER TO COURT

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 27, 2018 (RSCNPF): Neville Fahie of Newton Ground became the federation’s first person to be convicted for crossing the road illegally.

Fahie was arrested and charged on June 21, 2018 for the offences of Failing To Comply With a Traffic Pedestrian Signal and for Making Use of Indecent Language.

ONE PERSON IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING BREAK-IN AT HOME OF GOVERNMENT MINISTER

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 27, 2018 (RSCNPF): A man is in Police custody assisting with investigations following a break-in at the home of the Honourable Lindsay Grant in Sir Gillies, Sandy Point.

Police received a call close to 11 p.m. on June 26 reporting the break-in in progress and they responded immediately. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the perpetrator managed to break into the garage of the home of Minister Grant. One (1) person was at home at the time of the incident.

A family member who lives in another residence located on the same premises heard a noise coming from the garage and discharged his licensed firearm, firing gunshots into the air.  This resulted in the perpetrator fleeing the scene.

Police investigations into the matter led them to a suspect who was taken into custody shortly after the incident. The investigation is continuing. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Criminal Investigation Department at the Basseterre Police Station by dialing 465-2241 or their nearest Police Station.

 BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 26, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, has revealed that since assuming office, the Government has witnessed a significant increase in tax collections in the country over the period 2015 to 2017.

This is testament to the strength of the Federation’s economy as a result of the good governance and prudent fiscal management of the country’s resources under the leadership of the Team Unity Administration.
