OECS HEADS WELCOME CLOSER COLLABORATION WITH BARBADOS ON REGIONAL INTEGRATION MATTERS

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 20, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Heads of Government of countries within the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) have openly welcomed a deeper working relationship with the Government of Barbados, particularly on the matter of furthering the agenda of the free movement of people.

“I think it was refreshing to find, in the Prime Minister of Barbados, a new partner; a new partner in the context of the CSME [CARICOM Single Market and Economy] agenda, which Barbados would provide leadership to,” Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, said during a media briefing following the conclusion of the 65th Meeting of the OECS Authority in St. Lucia on Tuesday (June 19).

POLICE INVESTIGATING SITUATION IN WHICH MAN WAS SHOT AND INJURED

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 20, 2018 (RSCNPF): Police are currently investigating the circumstances under which a man was shot and injured.

Close to 9 p.m. on June 18, the Police were informed that a man arrived at the Alexandra Hospital with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the foot. Upon arrival, Police found Leon Griffin, known to be from Cayon, receiving treatment for his injury. It is unclear exactly how Griffin came about his injury, but investigations so far have revealed that the incident occurred at Bath Village. Members of the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and collected items of evidential value.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident are asked to contact the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391, 469-5392 or their nearest Police station.

Man escaped shooting incident in McKnight, St. kitts

A shooting incident took place in McKnight area around 8:00 am when a gun man open fire at parks and beaches worker (STEP) but he escaped from about 8 gun shots according to credible source.

The target is unknown at this moment.

New Policy introduced to allow teen moms back in school in Guyana

A new policy has been put in place to ensure teenage mothers have the opportunity to go back to school while receiving support at home and from their community.

The policy manual was handed over on Monday by officials from the Ministry of Education and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

SECOND PERSON CHARGED IN FATAL TAYLOR’S VILLAGE INCIDENT

 Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 19, 2018 (RSCNPF): A second person has been charged in the fatal shooting incident that occurred at Taylor’s Village on May 30.

 On Monday, June 18, Antonio Pascal, also known as “Gravel”, of Lower Shaw Avenue, Basseterre was formally arrested and charged on three warrants: for the murder of a 17-year-old male and for the attempted murder of a 15-year-old male and Antonio Lestrade (19 years old). On June 16, a juvenile also received the same charges in the matter.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing. Persons with information regarding this incident are urged to call any Police Station or the Violent Crimes Unit at 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468.
