FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT BEING INVESTIGATED

 Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 24, 2018 (RSCNPF): Police are currently investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred along the Old Road Bay Road over the weekend.

 The accident occurred close to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 19. It involved motor car P1379 which was owned and driven by Police Constable Antonio Freeman of Verchilds and motor pickup PA6999 which is owned by Keithroy Dyer and was being driven by Ahmalie Dyer of Half Way Tree and motor jeep PA4122 which is owned and was being driven by Robert Marsham of Godwin Ghaut.

TRADE IS AN ENGINE OF ECONOMIC GROWTH IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 24, 2018 (SKNIS): Trade contributes positively to the economic growth of a country, especially St. Kitts and Nevis and it is critical to improving the quality of lives, said Monique Davis, Trade Policy Officer in the Ministry of International Trade, during the launch of the History of Commerce and Banking Exhibition at the St. Christopher National Trust (SCNT) on October 23, 2018.

“In St. Kitts and Nevis, we have accepted and promoted the view that trade is one of the most important indicators of economic development. Trade is essential as it is a major contributor to the overall economy of St. Kitts and Nevis,” she said, while delivering remarks on behalf of Jasmine Weekes, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs. “Over the years, trade has helped to boost development and reduce poverty by generating growth through increased commercial opportunities and investments, as well as broadening the productive base through private sector development,” Ms. Davis continued.

SHOOTING INCIDENT AND ROBBERY IN ST. PAUL’S BEING INVESTIGATED


Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 24, 2018 (RSCNPF):
 Police are investigating an incident in which two armed masked men shot and injured an individual, then robbed two persons in St. Paul’s last night.

Police received a report of a shooting incident that occurred in St. Paul’s at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night (October 23). Investigations into the matter so far have revealed that 44-year-old Wayne Connor of St. Paul’s was sitting on wall in the vicinity of a supermarket along the Island Main Road when two masked gunmen ran up from a road and began firing shots at him. The men then made their way up to Rawlins Avenue and robbed two individuals at gun point.

Connor was transported to the JNF Hospital in Basseterre where he is listed as being in a stable condition.

 

Investigations into the matter are ongoing. Persons with information regarding this incident are urged to contact the Violent Crime Unit by dialing 467-1887 or 467-1888, 662-3468.
