$50,000 REWARD BEING OFFERED FOR INFORMATION IN SERGEANT POWELL CASE

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 20, 2018 (RSCNPF):The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is offering a reward in the sum of EC$50,000 in an effort to solicit information that may lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the death of Police Sergeant Leon Powell.

FIREARM FOUND IN TRUCK IN NEVIS TAKEN INTO POLICE CUSTODY

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 19, 2018 (RSCNPF): A stop and search exercise at the Quarry at New River in Nevis resulted in another firearm being seized by Police.

 On Friday, August 17, while conducting a stop and search exercise, one 40mm pistol with several matching rounds of ammunition were found in motor lorry PB1053. The two persons who were in the vehicle at the time were both taken into Police custody.

 No charges have been laid as yet in the matter and Police investigations are continuing. The total number of firearms taken into Police custody in the Federation is now at twenty-one (21).

POLICE SERGEANT SHOT AND KILLED DURING ARMED ROBBERY

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 18, 2018 (RSCNPF): The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has launched a massive investigation into the shooting death of Sergeant Leon Powell.

Sergeant Powell owns and operates a bar in Newton Ground. At about 1 a.m. on Saturday 18, 2018 Police received a report of an armed robbery in Newton Ground at his bar. Investigations so far have revealed that two armed, masked men entered the bar and demanded money from him.  A struggle ensued between Powell and one of the armed men and one of them shot Powell several times about the body. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
