GOVERNMENT INVITES PUBLIC TO OFFICIAL CONTRACT SIGNING CEREMONY FOR SPECIAL CAPITAL ROAD PROJECTS ON FRIDAY, APRIL 6

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 04, 2018 (SKNIS): The Government of National Unity of St. Kitts and Nevis, and in particular, the Public Works Department, is inviting the public to witness the Official Contract Signing Ceremony for Special Capital Road Projects on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Airport Roundabout at 4:30 pm. The signing ceremony will be with small contractors.

The Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, Minister of Public Infrastructure, indicated that the island main road had been neglected in maintenance and left in a dilapidated condition under the former Dr. Douglas-led Administration.

The Team Unity Administration is now rescuing the island’s main road from further deterioration by undertaking an island-wide resurfacing project, which is to begin imminently.

The resurfacing of the island’s main road will enhance the state of the island’s road network, reduce wear and tear on vehicles, and reduce the cost of maintenance of vehicles, while adding to road safety.

the Honourable Shawn Richards, was among the dozens who visited the Robert L Bradshaw International Airport on Tuesday, April 3 to warmly welcome the Federation’s athletes home after a successful campaign at the 2018 FLOW CARIFTA Games in the Bahamas over the Easter weekend.

The St. Kitts & Nevis ( National) Marijuana Commission will be hosting a series of town hall
meetings throughout the Federation. The purpose of these meetings is to engage (you) the
people, share the facts and latest evidence regarding the medical, social and economic
implications of marijuana use and ascertain your position on these complex issues.
The first town hall meeting will be held on Thursday April5,2018 at 7:00pm at the Anglican
Church Hall in St. Peters, St. Kitts.
We are inviting you, who live in the St. Peters community to come out, bring along relatives and
friends and be informed about the issues related to the use of marijuana. We are encouraging you
to come out and share your views. ALL are invited to participate in this national debate .
