MINISTRY OF NATIONAL SECURITY SEEKS TO POSITIVELY SHAPE THE MINDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE DURING ITS SUMMER CAMP
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 30, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Over the next week, more than four hundred (400) children in St. Kitts will benefit from the lessons, experiences and knowledge of seasoned law enforcement personnel and other stakeholders in an attempt to help build their characters and mold them to become productive citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The week-long Ministry of National Security Youth Explorers Camp, which is an expansion of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Summer Camp, is largely comprised of young people who are members of the Explorers Clubs based in St. Peters, St. Paul’s, Shadwell, and Mol-Phil (Molineux-Phillips).

ST. KITTS AND NEVIS CDM YOUTH AMBASSADORS AIDING IN THE HURRICANE RESTORATION EFFORTS IN THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 30, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Twenty-four (24) young persons representing the St. Kitts and Nevis Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) Youth Ambassadors group left the Federation on Sunday, July 29, on board a Coast Guard vessel destined for the British Virgin Islands (BVI), where they will offer much needed humanitarian assistance as the restoration efforts from last year’s devastating hurricane continue.

 PM Harris hails SKN Youth Ambassadors for bringing greater awareness in response to challenges of disaster

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, July 30, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, on Sunday July 29 bade farewell to a group of 24 St. Kitts and Nevis Comprehensive Disaster Management Youth Ambassadors who left the Federation for Tortola in the British Virgin Islands on a Restoration Humanitarian Assistance Mission.

Prime Minister Harris wished them a safe journey “as you undertake to do some good and to display your ambassadorship, your sense of duty and service in another country.”

The British Virgin Islands, pointed out the Prime Minister, was one of the Caribbean countries that were significantly impacted by hurricanes last year. “We too received some of the trouble which hurricanes usually bring but we were not as badly impacted as they were, for which we say to God be the glory. And we were happy that we were in a position to render support to the BVI, to Anguilla, to Antigua, and to Dominica who had endured worse than we did.”

POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL SHOOTING IN NEVIS


Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 30, 2018 (RSCNPF):
 Police Officers in Division ‘C’ (Nevis) are currently investigating a shooting incident which left one (1) person fatally wounded. This occurred on July 29, 2018 in Charlestown.

Investigations so far have revealed that at about 9:20 p.m., 28-year-old Evanson Smith-Bartlette of Stewart Williams Drive (formerly Pump Road) was about to drive out of his gate when he was attacked and shot by a lone gunman. He succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
