Gov’t Pays Funeral Costs For Slain Sisters

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The government has confirmed that it will bear the cost of the funerals for slain sisters Jemelia and Naomi Finch, scheduled for Friday.

19-year-old Naomi and 20-year-old mother and Defense Force soldier Jemelia of Keys Village were the allegedly chopped to death by Naomi’s boyfriend 34-year-old Orvis Pogson on March 1st.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris revealed the government’s decision to assist the family of the murdered young women.

Flourgon takes on Miley

Dancehall artiste Flourgon on Tuesday filed a US$300-million lawsuit against American pop singer Miley Cyrus in the US District Court, Manhattan, New York. In the suit, Flourgon (given name Michael May), alleges that Cyrus’s 2013 hit song We Can’t Stop closely resembles We Run Things, his song from 1988.

Additionally, Flourgon claims that Cyrus infringed on his copyright.

We Run Tings was produced by Hugh “Redman” James and topped charts in Jamaica and United States ethnic market.

Flourgon accused Cyrus and her label RCA Records, owned by Sony Corp, of misappropriating his material, including the phrase “We run things. Things no run we,” which she sings as “We run things. Things don’t run we.”

MINISTRY OF HEALTH IN ST.KITTS-NEVIS RECEIVES MEDICAL SUPPLIES FROM PAHO FOUNDATION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 13, 2018 (SKNIS): The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has partnered with the Ministry of Health in St. Kitts and Nevis in giving the ministry a substantial donation of medical supplies facilitated by a Kittitian and PAHO Foundation Partnership and Development Consultant, Ms. Minerva Saddler.

At a brief handing over ceremony held at the JNF General Hospital on March 13, Minister of State with responsibility for Health, the Honourable Wendy Phipps, expressed her appreciation for the tremendous donation made by the PAHO Foundation through the hard work of the Ministry of Health and Ms. Saddler as a result of a request for support after the 2017 Hurricane Season where supplies were distributed throughout the community as part of relief efforts.
