Former PLP Chairman questions alleged sale of Brighton Estate house to a sister of PM Harris

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 24, 2018Douglas Wattley, the former Chairman of Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris’ People’s Labour Party (PLP), is questioning the alleged sale of the Brighton Estate house at a reduced price, to one of Dr. Harris’ sisters.

In a recent FaceBook posting, Wattley noted that the Brighton’s Estate house was put up for sale by the Privatization Unit – an organization set up under the Denzil Douglas Administration to, among other things, sell off stale Government assets. Estate properties have been offered for sale, across the island, to the public under this arrangement.

PM Harris continues to victimise young people; five customs officers sent home on Tuesday

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 24, 2018 The Timothy Harris Government in St. Kitts and Nevis continues its onslaught on the young people in the twin-island federation.

Five young persons with families to feed were forced to join the long unemployment lines when their right to work and engage in employment were taken away by Prime Minister Harris.

Murder victim died from multiple blunt force traumas; police looking for woman’s boyfriend

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 23, 2018The Federation’s second murder victim, Shirley Dawn Morton, died as a result of multiple blunt force traumas to the head, an examination of the body has concluded.

Police have also issued a statement seeking the assistance of the public in its bid to question Wayne “Spyer” Chapman, the boyfriend of Morton.

Prominent Kittitian accuses Speaker Michael Perkins of “gross incompetence”

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 23, 2018 – A prominent Kittitian has labelled as “gross incompetence” and “cannot be an act of good governance” the actions by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Michael Perkins, during Tuesday’s sitting of the lawmaking body.
“…in St. Kitts and Nevis, a democratically-elected parliamentarian and Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition is suspended for a full session of the House because he did not fall over his feet to get out of the Assembly room on the request of the Speaker of the House, it does boggle the mind,” said former United Nations economist, Mrs. Willa Liburd.
