VERY SAD NEWS – Coach Dag Samuel of the British Virgin Islands, died during the passage of Category 5 Hurricane Irma over the BVI. He will be surely missed by the Athletics Fraternity for his immense and sterling contribution to Track & Field throughout the Caribbean and particularly BVI. Sincere sympathies to his family, friends, athletes, officials and the BVI Community. GONE WAY TO SOON – MAY HE REST IN PEACE !!

A Tropical Storm Watch is still in effect for Hurricane Jose, a category 4 hurricane. On the forecast track, the center of Jose will pass near or east of the northeastern Leeward Islands on Saturday. Tropical winds expected Saturday 4 a.m. and last until Saturday 10-11 p.m. Winds in the 45-50 MPH with rainfall 2-4.”

Pressure: 927 mb
Moving west northwest at 16mph

Some additional strengthening is possible throughout Friday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
By this weekend, Jose is expected to slow down and turn northwest. How close Jose comes to the northern Leeward Islands before making that turn remains uncertain.
