The letters of police officers, family members and friends pleading to the Miami District Court asking for leniency for Teshawn Adams, the V.I. Police Officer and National Guard member who federal prosecutors said was at the center of a multi-million dollar cocaine operation, did not sway Judge Paul Huck from handing down a 14-year prison sentence to Adams on Monday, according to 7 pieces of court documents obtained  by the Consortium Thursday afternoon. The matter was first reported by the Consortium on January 13.

Missing Dennery fishermen back home after being held captive

Two Dennery fishermen who have been missing at sea since June 9, 2021, have returned to St Lucia after several months in captivity.

According to reports, brothers Junior and Hansen St Rose went out on a fishing expedition when their vessel encountered difficulties.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 has risen to 81.

A 70-year-old Barbadian woman died yesterday afternoon at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility after spending nine days in primary isolation. She had a pre-existing condition and was unvaccinated.

Minister of Health and Wellness Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic has extended sincere condolences to her family and friends. (BGIS)

A total of 218 new COVID-19 cases (92 males and 126 females) were recorded by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Saturday, October 2.  The facility conducted 2,176 tests.
