BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 13TH 2017 – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Leader of the Opposition and former Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas said Tuesday he is deeply saddened by the loss and damages sustained by the Republic of Cuba in the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Irma.

Statement from the Governor of Anguilla on the passage of Hurricane Irma

On September 5th, Anguillba has sustained very significant damage and, regrettably, loss of life. This is the worst hurricane to have hit this island in living memory and we are now bracing ourselves for Jose.

Since Tuesday morning, the Governor, Deputy Governor, Chief Minister and the other Ministers have been in constant communication, assessing the damage, identifying priorities, and coordinating the response through the National Emergency Operations Center.

Jose is a Category 4 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 145 mph, in the central Atlantic Ocean – the third major hurricane of the 2017 season will threaten portions of the Leeward Islands this weekend, just days after Hurricane Irma ransacked parts of the region.

Tonight and overnight: we will be getting a few outer rain bands from the Hurricane. Seas expected to deteriorate overnight into tomorrow and peaking at about 18-20ft tomorrow.
