TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IN WHITE GATE BEING INVESTIGATED


Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 28, 2019 (RSCNPF):
 A traffic accident in the White Gate area is being investigated.

The incident occurred close to 8 a.m. on Sunday (October 27) and involved a pedestrian and motor jeep G150 which is owned by The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and was being driven by Officer Marlon Raymond.  The circumstances are that G150 was travelling from St. Paul’s to Dieppe Bay along the road running through the White Gate area when the vehicle in front stopped suddenly. The Officer then lost control of the motor jeep and collided with Tyrique Browne of St. Paul’s who was walking along the grass on the side of the road, then collided with a tree.

Officer Raymond and Browne were taken to the Pogson Medical Centre and the JNF Hospital respectively. Browne sustained a number of injuries including a broken arm. He is warded in a stable condition. Officer Raymond was treated for his injuries and discharged.

St Kitts and Nevis students Jovansia Matthew and Renell Agard shine at UVI

St Thomas, USVI, October 26, 2019 – Two nationals of St Kitts and Nevis were among four students at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), who were recently awarded scholarships by the National Association of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Title III Administrators Inc, the St John Source and VI Consortium report from a news release
“This is the largest number of students that have won in a single competition in the history of UVI’s participation in the competition, and this speaks well of the quality of the students at the institution,” said UVI Title III Coordinator Dayle Barry.

A Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard “go-fast” vessel approaching a drifting sailboat on Wednesday afternoon which had illegal migrants on board.

 

PHILIPSBURG–The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard (DCCG) intercepted a drifting sailboat near St. Kitts on Wednesday, October 23, that had 35 illegal migrants on board.

  During a patrol Wednesday afternoon, a DCCG Dash 8 aircraft saw a sailboat that had a group of persons on board waving frantically at the plane.
