CARICOM EXPRESSES CONCERN FOR THE PEOPLE OF VENEZUELA AND THE IMMEDIATE REGION IN ESCALATING POLITICAL CRISIS 
Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 31, 2019 (SKNIS): In a statement, The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) led by its chairman, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, is expressing its “strong disquiet over the escalation of the situation in Venezuela and the adverse implications for the people of Venezuela and for the immediate region.”

The delegation of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) comprising Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, the Honourable Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Peter David, Foreign Minister of Grenada, His Excellency Irwin LaRocque, CARICOM Secretary-General, as well as the Permanent Representatives of these countries continued its engagements at the United Nations and at the Trinidad and Tobago Permanent Mission in New York on Tuesday, 30 January 2019 on the situation in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its implications for the Community.

UWI OFFICIALS COMMIT TO SEEING ST. KITTS-NEVIS UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PLAN IMPLEMENTED
Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 31, 2019 (SKNIS): Officials from the University of the West Indies Health Economics Unit, Centre for Health Economics based in Trinidad, have expressed their interest in continuing to work with the St. Kitts and Nevis Government in the shaping and smooth process of implementation of the country’s Universal Health Care Coverage.

Members from the institution have officially completed their contractual obligations having participated in a number of related activities during the design phase. However, Economist Charmaine Metivier at the St. Augustine Campus said the team welcomes the opportunity for continued engagement.

BENEFICIARIES OF THE POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAMME TO RECEIVE PAYMENT ON 2ND AND 4TH FEBRUARY
The Ministry of Community Development, Gender Affairs and Social Services, wishes to advise the General Public and specifically the beneficiaries under the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Poverty Alleviation Programme (PAP) of the arrangements for the payment of benefits for the Month of January 2019.

Kindly note that the benefits would be disbursed at the Inland Revenue Department, Bay Road, Basseterre on Saturday 2nd February 2019 at 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.  All beneficiaries are kindly asked to bring a Valid Identification Card (ID) or Passport. Beneficiaries are further asked to provide their Banking Information such as the Name of the Banks and Bank Account Number in order to facilitate the timely disbursement of benefits for the month of February 2019.

Please note that the disbursement of benefits for the Month of January 2019 would resume at the Accountant General Department, Corner of Church and Central Street on Monday 4th February 2019 at 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
