PRIME MINISTER HARRIS ACCUSES LEADER OF OPPOSITION OF PROMOTING CBI PROGRAMME OF DOMINICA OVER HIS COUNTRY’S OWN
Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 18, 2018 (SKNIS): In his wrap up of the 2019 Budget Debate, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, accused the Leader of the Opposition, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, of selling out his country by promoting the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme of Dominica over his country’s own.

“Something is wrong with that leadership,” Prime Minister Harris said of Dr. Douglas.

After months of denial, Dr. Douglas finally admitted in a sworn affidavit filed in the High Court Registry on February 21, 2018, that he filled out an application form and was issued with a diplomatic passport (0000462) of the Commonwealth of Dominica, which he has used to travel.

SHOPPERS ENJOY DOING BUSINESS IN SECURE ENVIRONMENT 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 18, 2018 (RSCNPF): The first Value Added Tax (VAT) discount day on Friday, December 14, saw hundreds of shoppers making their rounds from business place to business place in a secure environment.

The day closed without major incidents being reported and the Police, assisted by other security agencies, were out in their numbers ensuring the safety and security of patrons and businesses alike. All hands were on deck on Friday with members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, the Regional Security Service, The K9 Unit and Traffic Wardens being posted in several areas. Senior ranking Police Officers, such as Assistant Commissioners of Police, Superintendents and Inspectors, were also seen conducting patrols.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 17, 2018 (SKNIS): Food security in St. Kitts and Nevis remains at the forefront of the Team Unity Administration’s agenda as the Ministry of Agriculture continues to provide farmers with the necessary tools and information to expand their production with the goal of ultimately reducing the Federation’s import bill.

While giving his address in support of The Appropriation (2019) Bill, 2018, on December 17, Minister of Agriculture, the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, said that the government in recognizing the effects of climate change has installed meteorological equipment throughout the Federation that will gather data and provide relevant information for farmers.
