World Water Day 2017

WaterDay

March 16, 2017(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)World Water Day that was declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) is commemorated annually on March 22 nd to increase the awareness among the people of the importance of water in various fields of life including the environment, health, agriculture and trade, the need for and conservation of water and to listen and understand water issues.

This year’s theme is “Wastewater.” It is about taking action to tackle the water crisis. Today, there are over 663 million people living without a safe water supply close to home. Globally, the vast majority of all the wastewater from our homes, cities, industries and agriculture flows back to nature without being treated or
reused. UNESCO is hoping that discussions would be centred this year on safely treating, reducing and reusing wastewater, for example in agriculture and aquaculture, protects workers, farmers and consumers and promotes food security, health and wellbeing The St.Kitts-Nevis National Commission for UNESCO solicits your assistance as media practitioners to spread the word about the World Water Day by Airing the World Water Day message from the Director General of UNESCO, Ms. Irina Bokova. (Attached) and by;
