Government mum on plans by LIAT to stop flying to St. Thomas.
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – May 30th 2017 – Three months after the announcement that LIAT – the Caribbean Airline – will stop flying between St. Kitts and Nevis and the United States Virgin Islands, there has been no statement from the Team Unity Government.
Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, Tourism Minister Hon. Lindsay Grant and Minister of Aviation, Hon, Mark Brantley have been completely silent on the measures they intend to take to provide easier access for nationals and visitors between both destinations.
In February, the Antigua-based carrier announced it will stop flying between St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Service to St. Croix’s Henry E. Rohlsen Airport stopped on March 1st, while flights to St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King International Airport will cease on June 14th.
LIAT curtailed flights to Nevis’ Vance W. Amory International Airport in 2016.
LIAT operated a flight to St Croix on Mondays and Wednesdays and flies to the Cyril E. King International in St Thomas on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
LIAT is the second airline to cease passenger service between St. Kitts and the United States Virgin Islands.
In April Hummingbird Air stopped flying between St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw Airport and St. Croix’s Henry E. Rohlsen Airport.
