Residents of Phillip’s grateful as Prime Minister Harris holds second walkthrough
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 15, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — As constituents in St. Christopher Seven continue to celebrate the 25 years of service by their parliamentarian, Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, residents of Phillip’s Village benefitted from a second night of the ‘meet and greet’ walkthrough on Wednesday November 14.
According to the walkthrough’s organiser in Phillip’s Village, Mr William Phillip, residents were extremely moved to see their Area Parliamentary Representative take time off his busy schedule as the Federation’s Prime Minister to visit them on two consecutive days, Tuesday and Wednesday.
“As a resident of Phillip’s Village, I just want to thank the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr Timothy Harris, our Parliamentary Representative, for his unbroken and dedicated service to our community,” said Mr Phillip. “Since he was elected in 1993 and then again in 1995 when he became a minister of government we have seen tremendous progress in the villages in this constituency, especially in Phillip’s.”
On Wednesday evening the Prime Minister and members of the Constituency Number Seven Group visited Woodley Hill, Plum Tree, and Spooners. More people came out to talk to him and others let him in to their homes. They shared their concerns and aspirations even as they congratulated him on reaching that milestone as a parliamentarian.
“He has been here now two nights and we are really grateful because we understand that he is not only our constituency representative but he is the Prime Minister,” observed Mr Phillip. “So that means he has the whole country to look after not just his constituency. We are grateful with his presence, taking into consideration his busy schedule, to be here with us. It gives us a great opportunity to talk to him.”
Prime Minister Harris is also the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP), one of the three parties in the ruling Team Unity Administration. He was accompanied by the party’s National Chairman Mr Warren Thompson, National Secretary Ms Myrtilla Williams, Women Arm Representative Mrs Sonia Henry, Youth Arm Representative Mr Manasses Huggins, and officials from a number of PLP Constituency Branch Executives.
At the end of the highly successful ‘meet and greet’ walkthrough, Prime Minister Harris addressed members of his entourage at the bridge near the Seventh Day Adventist Church where he thanked them and updated them on the anniversary celebration activities that would be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“On Friday (November 16) at 3:45 pm we have a special ceremony at Molineux Extension on Action Street where we will be handing over a home which we have built with some private sector support for Ms Mary O’Donohue,” advised the Honourable Prime Minister. Recipient of the two-bedroom house is living with her 94-year old mother Ms Viola O’Donohue.
Legacy Walk will be held on Saturday November 17 starting 6:00 am from Belle Vue. According to Dr Harris, there will be prizes to given to the youngest participating person, and oldest participating person. He noted: “We will end at Ottley’s hard courts and we will have an opportunity to share breakfast together and to chit chat.”
On Sunday November 18, the 25th Anniversary celebrations will shift from Constituency Number Seven to Constituency Number Three with a church service at the Antioch Baptist Church in St. Johnston Village at 9:30 am. Action will, however, return to Constituency Number Seven on Monday November 19 with a ‘meet and greet’ walkthrough in Molineux starting from 5:00 pm.
