NATIONAL HEALTH WALK TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 10
Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 08, 2019 (SKNIS): A National Health Walk designed to promote physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 5 am starting at Caribbean Cinemas and ending at the Frigate Bay Lawn.

The National Health Walk will come on the heels of the launch of SKN Moves on Friday, August 9, 2019, an initiative designed to promote a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and healthy diet.

In May 2018, CARICOM Ministers of Health were introduced to an exciting initiative, Jamaica Moves, by Honourable Dr. Christopher Tufton, Minister of Health in Jamaica. The programme engaged all sectors of society at the individual, organizational, community and national levels to encourage three behaviours for the prevention and control of NCD’s, namely, physical activity, healthy eating and routine, and age-appropriate health checks for the general population.

CARICOM Ministers of Health, impressed by Jamaica Moves, agreed on its suitability for adoption on a region-wide basis, not to replace, but to increase the momentum of, ongoing national programmes for increasing physical activity and healthy eating across society. St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN) Moves is a direct result of this initiative.
