Defending champions Parsons forfeit final preliminary game in #7 Domino League
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 2, 2020 (MMS-SKN) — Preliminary fixtures in the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League came to a dramatic end on Thursday 1st October with defending champions Parsons Domino Club forfeiting their last game, and former champions Lodge Domino Club annihilating Sylvers Domino Club.
Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League, which is the longest running such league in the Federation, is sponsored by Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, and Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
Defending champions Parsons Domino Club, who are effectively out of the title race, did not show up for their encounter with Mansion Domino Club in their rescheduled game due to have been played on the grounds of the Tabernacle Police Station. It earned Mansion a 13-0 win.
It took less than two hours of play for former champions Lodge Domino Club to dispatch Sylvers Domino Club 13-1 in their game played at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project, and at the same venue Giants Domino Club beat Saddlers Domino Club 13-9.
Phillips Domino Club finished at the top after narrowly beating Unstoppable Domino Club 13-12 in their encounter at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux. Losing a point to Unstoppable did not bring much discomfort on Phillips’ side, as even with a loss they still would have finished at the top.
The last of the rescheduled games, after a power outage would have forced the cancellation of five games on Thursday September 17, saw Christ Church Domino Club beat Small Corner Bar Domino Club 13-9 in a game played at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.
With results in for those final preliminary fixtures in the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League, the four teams that will move into the semi-finals are Phillips with 117 points, Unity with 111 points, and a tie between Lodge and Tabernacle who have 109 points each. However, Lodge takes the third position on account of having won more games with six points than Tabernacle.
The other teams who will now take part in the Best of the Rest knockout competition are Christ Church, 94 points; Unstoppable, 89 points; Mansion, 88 points; Parsons, 86 points; Saddlers, 70 points; Small Corner Bar, 62 points; Molineux, 48 points; Sylvers, 43 points; Giants, 40 points; and Guinness, 26 points.
According to President of Constituency Number Seven Domino League Executive Committee, Calvin Farrell, games for Best of the Rest competition will be played on Monday October 5 and Wednesday October 7, while semi-finals will be played on Tuesday October 6 and Thursday October 8.
The games will be played at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project and the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux starting at 7:00 pm on each of the days.
