Sombre day: T&T hits 1,000 COVID-19 deaths

Trinidad and Tobago’s COVID-19 death toll has reached the 1,000 mark.

In its 4pm update on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health revealed that two more people died from the virus.

The fatalities include: an elderly female with comorbidities and a middle-age male without comorbidities.

Additionally, 156 more people have tested positive for the virus.

Active cases stand at 5,691.

To date, 255,325 have been tested at both public and private facilities.

Of the total number of people tested, 109,383 were done at private facilities.

Additionally, 29,663 have recovered from the virus.

There are currently 301 patients in hospital, 84 in step-down facilities, 146 in state quarantine facilities and 5,150 in home self-isolation.

To date, 262,976 people have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 174,992 have also received a second dose.
