Buckie Got It, St Kitts and Nevis News Source
Today is a day of FIRSTS for our Federation
Not only is JetBlue arriving for the FIRST time, but St Kitts & Nevis is the epicenter of Intellectual Property in the Caribbean, as we host, for the FIRST time, the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Meeting of Heads of IP Offices and IP Ministers of the Caribbean under the theme “IP: Innovation to Prosperity” at the Park Hyatt St Kitts.
This is the Ministry of Justice & Legal Affairs’ FIRST regional meeting since I took office and
we are excited to welcome IPO Heads and IP Ministers from throughout the Caribbean.
I was honoured this morning to give welcoming remarks and thank Mr Hasan Kleib, Deputy Director General of WIPO, for making St Kitts & Nevis the FIRST country in the world to launch the IP & Sports Project aimed at unlocking the economic value of our local sports industry. It is also the FIRST time the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Mr Daren Tang, will be visiting the Caribbean.
I also encouraged the many participants to Venture Deeper to experience our world-renowned warmth, hospitality, culture, landscapes and vibes. They expressed pleasure with our FIRST class warm welcome thus far! Kudos to Kittitian Heartbeat and KayanJet SKB.
Special thanks must go to the Japan Patent Office for supporting the event and the Ministry Team for organizing it, but special mention must go to our able Intellectual Property Office of St. Kitts and Nevis Registrar, Mrs Jihan Williams-Knight, for her hard work in making this dream a reality!
