MOE ISSUES CALL FOR PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS
Basseterre: St. Kitts, Monday May 13, 2024. In anticipation of the forthcoming 2024-2025 academic year, the Ministry of Education – St. Kitts, has announced the commencement of its recruitment process for aspiring educators. With teaching positions to be filled across various levels, the Ministry is urging interested individuals to seize the opportunity to contribute to the nation’s educational landscape.
One of the key requirements for prospective teachers is attendance at a mandatory two-week Pre-Service Seminar/Workshop at the Advance Vocational Education Centre (AVEC), situated in Taylor’s Range, Basseterre. Scheduled torun from Monday, 24th June to Friday, 5th July, 2024, this seminar is designed to equip future educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles as teachers.
For those aspiring to teach at the Early Childhood or Primary Level, a minimum of five CSEC subjects is mandated, including English Language, Mathematics, a Social Science subject (History/Social Studies/Geography), and a Science subject. Similarly, individuals eyeing positions at the Secondary Level must possess at least five CSEC subjects, encompassing English Language, along with relevant passes at the CAPE Level or above.
Additionally, qualified applicants will be required to sit a literacy and numeracy test as part of the application process, ensuring the essential foundational skills required for effective teaching.
All applications must be submitted to the Ministry of Education, located on the 3rd Floor of the Cable Building, Cayon Street, Basseterre, St. Kitts, no later than Friday, 31st May, 2024.
