In keeping with our new plan, funding was approved for medical treatment for the first patient from the children’s health program, Pediatric Assistance League of St. Kitts and Nevis (PALS), since our government took office. Ju’Niyah traveled yesterday to Barbados to undergo 10 months of medical treatment and chemotherapy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

We made a promise that “no more would families have to send around sponsor sheets and create GoFundMe accounts seeking medical assistance for their children.” We pledge that the government would provide the necessary funding to assist such families and provide the financial support to seek the medical expertise needed and that promise has been kept.

It is our belief that access to quality healthcare is not a privilege, but a basic human right and to that end, we pledge to ensure that one’s financial status does not hinder them from receiving the best care possible.
